Jana Riess spoke in 2010.

 

Jana author of six books, including Mormonism for Dummies and What Would Buffy Do? The Vampire Slayer as Spiritual Guidewill did two presentations at the 2010 retreat. One was about her new book, Flunking Sainthood. It's a chronicle of 12 months living twelve "wacky" spiritual practices like fasting, contemplative prayer, gratitude, Sabbath-keeping, hospitality, etc. The other presentation was a more informal Q and A.

About Jana:

Jana Riess was the Religion Book Review Editor for Publishers Weekly from 1999 to 2008. She is now an acquisitions editor with Westminster John Knox Press, as well as a freelance writer and editor. She holds degrees in religion from Wellesley College and Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in American religious history from Columbia University. She has been interviewed by the Associated Press, Time, Newsweek, People, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, and Newsday, among other print publications, as well as “Voice of America,” the Today show, and NPR’s “Morning Edition” and “Talk of the Nation.” She is the author or co-author of six books, and a regular contributor to Explorefaith.org. She lives in Cincinnati, which is the most underrated city in America.
